We go to the winery producing red Côtes de Bourg wines, meeting with the producer, tasting a minimum of 2 wines (2 different qualities of wines produced there) and this includes walking into vine plants and having explanations at the vegetal stage of the year, in the cellars and a very interesting moment at the tasting room; the guide is the son and owner of the property, he will talk with the group about soils, influences of climate and grapes variety he observes for making his wines)
It is a rare moment to penetrate into intimacy of a family winery.
The location grants a rare overview on the Côtes de Bourg hills called “the little Switzerland”, sounding to mountains relieves (small ones, in fact) and onto a surprising panorama on the Médoc area leading to sea (Atlantic ocean) when daylight is very clear (visitors are warmly welcomed to have binoculars during this day).
(*) 10 minutes distant with the coach, the winery is very distinctive and highly represents what of the best wines can be discovered in the area of production. It’s a family winery, with father and son, and grand’ son, established from 4 generations.
If the season and moment allow it, the group can participate to an activity, for instance, harvesting some bunches in September when harvest period.
Visitors can buy the wines they want, paying cash or with credit card payment. They will receive special small gifts (but don’t mention it), like carved tasting glasses, for instance. Everyone will bring back a complete leaflet of the winery.
1H30: Lunch time at a restaurant in Bourg (back to the city) having
Panorama on the Dordogne River.
If available (and depending on the affluence), members can see what the cooking chief is preparing, and recommending or adding by themselves their final touch on what they will be eating later on. A wide spectrum of South west culinary specialties is prepared at the restaurant; cooking advices can be kept about preparing french magrets or others specialties.
Typical and regional menu with main courses, including the wines tasted at the winery (or different on demand). Menus always vary depending seasonal products, they will be communicated later on for details.
Rest of the day : ending at 2H45, 3H or later, the last part of the afternoon can be the occasion of walking in the city to the belvedere, the old defense walls and entering doors, the Museum Maurice Poignant (old times everyday’s life), and being involved into history and architecture of the small town of Bourg, which is so nice and with charisma.
Visitors make by their own a good “walking-around moment”, no escort.
